Harley Quinn was created for the Batman animated series of the 90's. The character was so popular that she was put in the actual DC comic universe. Her original costume was a great design. It had the perfect look to be a side kick for the Joker.
Well when they decided to make a Batman video game they decided to put Harley in the game. When they released a video of her, everyone was shocked at her new look. I would go ahead and put myself in that category.
Seriously...what is that? There is nothing that connects her to the Joker. The original suit had the diamonds, like cards. This is something you would see at a rave.
But I don't think that's as bad as the latest design. DC is relaunching their universe (again) and giving some of the characters a new look, like Harley.
Wow...that's just bad. Seriously, as if the video game version wasn't slutty enough, they go for the corset top and bikini bottoms with thigh high boots. If I wasn't told this was Harley Quinn, I'm not sure I could have told you who it was. The diamonds on the gloves and maybe the mallet. But other than that, how can you tell who it is? This is bad...so bad.

The thing that really makes me sad is the fact that Harley wasn't one of those characters that had to show a lot of skin to be sexy (ex. Poison Ivy), yet every time that DC "redesigns" Harley, her outfits get sluttier and sluttier. I mean COME ON! Harley isn't suppose to be dressed like a slut, or look psychotic! The reason why a lot of people like her was because of her funny, bubbly personality as well as her sense of innocence that she manages to hang on to, even though she works with the joker!
that's a good point. I never realized that they have been making her sluttier since Arkham Asylum. But looking at the re-designs, you are definitely onto something.
i'm currently making a Harley Quinn costume out of duct tape... i'm trying my hardest to keep to the original, but a duct tape cat suit is gonna be all sweaty and gross, so i'm making it in to a dress, but its tasteful, not slutty, and i've done the neck ruffle thing as a seperate peice from the hat, but thats only because i'm not gonna have the under the chin strap thingy... yes, my dress will be strapless, but im making some gauntlet/glove thingys, red and black with diamonds that go up to my armpits, and the only reason its not all one peice is because that is WAY to hot!!! but yeah, I totally agree, she used to be tasteful, but now she looks like a stripper version of herself... and as for the first remake of her outfit... ummm, all i can say is wow... it is horrible, and its red and PURPLE??? WHAT!!! Harley Quinn is red and black!!!

This is ridiculous. Since when do supervillains need to look slutty in order to appeal? The skin-tight comic book standard diamond pattern was great! I'm going to have a hard time believing Harley jumping around like she usually does without falling out of that corset top. And why is she so busty?

haha DC needs to find a direction and go for it. They start going and then out think themselves. I think the worst offender is Starfire. What is she wearing now?
