Inside Four Walls: who wants to be a teacher??

Clearly the student is in the wrong. The teacher tells him to sit down and he uses his body to push her in the corner and then screams at her. Teacher's response? Punch him.


I think the worst part is the girl who actually yells at the teacher saying she had no right to hit him. Boggles my mind...it really does.

Inside Four Walls: This ought to be interesting...

I have talked a lot about teacher's rights and blogging and what not. We have seen a lot of teachers recently lose their job or be suspended because of what they say online. And what they say isn't bullying, it's venting or just telling a story.

So it will be interesting to see what happens with this;

Sultan Middle School Principal Robin Briganti found herself the target of online bullying. Someone set up a bogus Facebook page, and posted vile words and humiliating comments under her name.

That's right a principal is being bullied online, by some students at her school. Some people have argued that it isn't bullying, but more slander, I would argue isn't it the same thing? I guess slander is just something we use when your an adult.

It will be interesting to see what happens here. Will the students be suspended or expelled or counselled? I doubt the principal will sue, but how would that play out as well. It's time teachers start fighting back and quit being the punching bag of the nation right now.

Thoughts Without Words: This is how parents think now...

Let me start off by saying this could have been posted under Free Speech for the Dumb or Inside Four Walls because it deals with parents, but I went generic.

A couple days ago I posted the video of a bully getting slammed by the kid he was picking on. Most would say justice was served. I say most because the bully's mom? Well, she sees it differently.

"We don't need this posted everywhere," she told Australia's Seven Network on Wednesday. "I would like him to apologize."

That's right. Her kid is the one picking on another student and starts hitting him, yet it's the victim who needs to apologize. This is what we see more and more in education. Call it deflecting, not accepting responsibility, or whatever you want, but this is what society has become. It's always someone else's fault.

Now she did say this;

Tina said she while was "shocked" at Ritchard's behavior, she didn't think he deserved to be slammed to the ground. Neither boy suffered serious injuries in the fight.

Hmmm shocked? No apology there. Oh and I like the "didn't deserved to be slammed to the ground" part too. What did she expect the kid to do? He doesn't provoke the bully. He just wants to be left alone. It's the bully that seems to have brought the slamming upon himself. But why would I expect a parent to do their job and parent their child. It is becoming more and more rare to see a parent actually parent their child. Unfortunately, parents are getting to be like the kids and make excuses and avoiding accountability.

This video is making its way around the internet. And all I can say is this is what needs to happen to bullies. The bully was suspended for 21 days, while the other kid got 4. I mean he did body slam the kid, but I would have given him only one and said he was defending himself. Oh well, the little kid will think twice I guess.

Thoughts Without Words: Cyberbullying

So I am sure we have heard about cyberbullying before. Of course there was the big case of a mom posing as a male teen who caused a teenage girl to kill herself. Other than that major case, it kind of goes unreported by major media.

I found out today that a teacher has some cyberbullying going on in his class. Seems that someone created a facebook page that is being racist and degrading towards a student. Plus there are photoshopped pictures of the teacher in unflattering positions and with sexual/racist remarks photoshopped on his white board.

Now, the teacher still hasn't heard of what punishment these students are going to receive, but I would suggest they are cyberbullying the teacher. Of course, we know how the courts have viewed this in recent months, freedom of speech.

How is this right? This is just another example of letting the inmates run the asylum. So if it is a student on student offense then it is cyberbullying. If it is student on teacher, then it is freedom of speech. Something doesn't sound right there.

By the way, to top it off. The student who was suspended for starting the facebook page about her principal is sueing her school for violating her free speech.
