Right Now: a little update

So where have I been the last 2 months? Just sitting around waiting for some good music to finally come out, but it never happened. I'm in the middle of summer school and realized it had been a long time since I posted, so here is a quick run
-down of things I want to talk about;
- albums of the year (of course)
- saw the Avengers & Thor
- new cartoons (some soon to be cancelled)
- new school year It's a lot on my mind and I am going to try and post one topic per day...I say try because I probably won't post again until Christmas.

Right Now: Howard Jones out of KsE

What a crappy way to start off the new year with the news of Howard Jones leaving/fired from Killswitch Engage. I am a huge Jesse Leach fan, but if you have to have another singer for KsE it was Howard. End of Heartache is a classic and easily is up there with Alive or Just Breathing. I have always said those two albums were so much like Metallica's Ride the Lightning and Master of Puppets. Meaning the songs were similar and how both albums were at the top of their game.

What sucks is that their last album was a "return to form" so to speak after the mediocre Daylight Dies. I was really excited to see what they were going to come up with, especially with everyone sort of doing their own thing. It would have been interesting to see what they could have produced after being apart for so long.

Now this opens the door for Jesse to return to KsE, but who knows if he will. He did the Times of Grace project with Adam D. and the touring version of the band features a couple of KsE members. I hope he does. Times of Grace was awesome and at times was reminiscent of KsE.

If I couldn't get Jesse back there is only one singer off the top of my head that could pull it off and that would be Jimmie Strimmell of Dead By April/Nightrage fame. I think he would be great in that role. He isn't allowed to do the clean vocals anymore for DbA so why not?

Right Now: No-Shave November

So I forgot to shave this past week, really busy, and my TA asked me if I was doing the "No-Shave November". I had never heard of it before and did a little research and apparently it was founded to help raise awareness of prostate cancer. Now this disease is pretty close to home because my grandfather had it and so has my dad. Will I get it? Probably. So if I can do anything to help raise awareness I will. The worst part for me is that I shave my head every other day, so this is going to be tough for me.

Right Now: seriously

Wow...sure has been awhile since I posted. So a quick update;

• School is whatever. I will say that I have had more parent conferences in the first 8 weeks than I did all of last year combined...seriously.
• Alot of freshmen...seriously.
• I thought I had the top 5 albums figured out and then Iced Earth came out with an album that is blowing my mind right now...seriously.
• That's it...I haven't posted in a long time because everytime I started too, I got depressed at the story I was going to post...seriously.

Right Now: Summer School done

I haven't postes in awhile cause I have been enjoying my summer school class. This might have been my favorite summer school class ever.  Well it's done and now we have 3 weeks off.

Our school has had an exciting summer as well, but I will get into that later. That's it for now.

Right Now: 500th post?

already?

I guess it has been 5 years...almost. I feel like I have "found my groove" when it comes to this blog. I like the variety of topics, the labels, the responses (when they come), and just having the ability to share my thoughts and stories. I have a nice steady stream of about 1,000 to 1,200 visitors a month. Now I know that's not huge, but to me it is still humbling to think someone would want to know what I think.

I doubt it will take another 5 years to hit 1000, but who knows. I mean I look back at my previous years and in 06 & 09 I didn't even get to 30 posts for the year.

Right Now: M.I.A.

so some of you might have noticed I took an entire month off from blogging, why you ask? No reason. I just got busy and stopped and before I knew it, November was here. Here's a quick run-down on some things

• Top 10 list is coming together nicely, I might actually have to bump some out...I didn't think that would happen.
• School - moral is down, including mine. I will talk about the new cell phone policy and special ed.
• Politics - well we will have to wait another day to see how this is going to pan out, but I think we all know what's going to happen.
• T.V. - some good shows, nothing fantastic. Caprica was cancelled, but a new show about the first Cylon War is in the wings.

Right Now: Happy 9/02/10 Day

This slipped passed right by me until a teacher told me about it. Today is 90210 Day because of the date 9/02/10, September 2nd 2010. Really cool.

I have been meaning to do a Remember the Time about the original 90210 because there are a ton of great memories from that show. Yeah it jumped the shark a million times and really went downhill after Brandon left the show, but I can still remember going to school and talking about Kelly's classic "I choose me" moment when Brandon and Dylan both proposed to her. Ahhh memories. Anyways it's one of those once in a lifetime days, so why not recognize it.

Right Now: Reaction Boxes

ok, so this blog doesn't get super hits like some of my favorites, but I get about 30-40 people a day visiting. And I know that maybe 20% of those will leave a comment. So I am trying these reaction boxes. If you would as to be so kind a click the box you like that would be nice :-)

If they start working I am going to have to change the names...kind of generic for me.

Right Now: one more week

Just got back from a quick trip visiting my grandmother. We have one more week until we have to report back to work. Some quick thoughts;

• will post some UPS stories this week ( I talked to Trevor last week made me realize I hadn't posted some in awhile.
• gotta start working out again, and I might start a new tag for it.
• will review the Phineas and Ferb hour episode from this past Friday...one word, great.
• relax!

Right Now: It's My World

So it's been a couple of days since my last post. I wanted to do a post a day and as you can tell I'm a little off. I thought I would do more since it's summer, but alas I find myself relaxing after work instead of blogging. Funny thing is that I have a bunch of drafts I started, but never finished.

So the plan is to get the drafts published (they might be old) and get back on track to a post a day. So hopefully tonight I will have another post on something done.

Other than that...nothing much.

Right Now: Girls Waterpolo C.I.F. Title

Just a quick note about our school's girls waterpolo team which won it's first ever C.I.F. title. Big win for them. Congrats all around. Story HERE.

Right Now: Summer Vacation

• Summer School is OVER!!!! :-)
• going to Disneyland once a week at least
• it's hot!
• went to the beach for the first time with our kids
• Enjoying Spectacular Spider-Man so much right now...great writing on that show
• 4-5 weeks left...gotta enjoy it.

Not a bad class lots of incoming freshmen.

just post because I missed all of February due to Webwasher.

Battlestar Galactica has 3 hours left then it's over...what the frak?
Don't want to touch work right now...I will leave it at that.
Family and I got Disneyland passes...super happy.
CA Budget and politics in general are upsetting me a lot...too much spending and giving out of free money, but what about the people who play it straight? screwed.

Hopefully I will post more this month.

Right Now: Updates to site

So I am trying to catch up with posts and here are the latest changes
- updated my banner (larger with more bands)
- added a "Top Artists of the Week" from Last.fm
- put up some iMixes of my top metal albums going back to 2004
- hoping to add some more widgets later this month...stay tuned.

Right Now

Holy crap! Seriously I can't find any time to get on this thing and update it. Well what has happened since the last update.
- Seniors are gone, graduated
- Summer school has started, the class isn't that bad. 1st semester is a lot easier than 2nd though
- My wife is changing schools, which is a good thing considering how bad it was this year
- kids are doing great, I am amazed at how much sign language my wife has taught our daughter...so cute to watch her "talk"
- BSG is off the air until 2009! They found Earth, but the final cylon isn't in the fleet. Now I just have to wait...again.

Next update should be a full one. I need to hit the albums of the year so far and get back to UPS stories.

Right Now

Wow it seems like it has been forever since I have been able to get on here. So here's the latest
- Everyone is sick, daughter had another seizure, but is doing fine.
- Sleep is short and far between
- Seniors are gone, 3 days to go
- One week off before summer school
- No spotlight since, KsE due to me being sick and being at home with family
- BSG still a great show
- Spider-Man getting a little sloppy at the end of season one
- next up will hopefully be my mid year album picks

Right Now: future updates

Ok so with the new baby I will be struggling on updates...maybe 1/2 a week. Anyways I need to hit top metal vocalists, BSG, Spider Man (what a great show), and it's getting close to mid year which means top albums of the year. It's a packed year...I already have about 13 solid albums...yeah that's more than 10.
